The Attraction of Digital Nomad Life in Uluwatu, Bali
Are you looking for the perfect destination to combine work and play? Digital nomad life in Uluwatu, Bali might be just what you need. Uluwatu, is a dream destination for many digital nomads looking for a blend of work and play. This southernmost part of the island offers a chilled vibe, with lovely beaches, modern restaurants, and accommodations that cater to a variety of preferences. With a predominantly Australian surfing tourist scene, Uluwatu has become a hotspot for those seeking a tropical lifestyle while working remotely.

Getting Around Uluwatu
Renting a scooter is essential for digital nomads in Uluwatu, as the roads can be quite congested with traffic. However, once you’re on a scooter, navigating the area becomes a breeze. The locals are extremely friendly, but keep in mind that you’ll need to bargain for just about everything, therefore our overall view of their friendliness is a 4 out of 5.
A Culinary Delight
Despite some local dishes being predominantly fried, the food in Uluwatu caters to a variety of preferences. The healthy food scene in Uluwatu is exceptional, with smoothies, vegan and vegetarian options and the delicious sushi options are readily available and affordable. We had an amazing few meals out at Shaka Riki – a modern and peaceful Japanese restaurant with excellent service. We also had some mouthwateringly tasty salads from Nourish. Both highly recommended!

Exploring Uluwatu’s Beauty
Uluwatu boasts a plethora of breathtaking beaches and natural attractions. Like most tourist areas, Uluwatu is still recovering from the pandemic. Some parts of the region appeared dilapidated due to abruptly halted projects. However, this is to be expected and doesn’t detract from the overall experience. Balangan Beach is a must-visit, with its stunning cliff backdrop and quirky cafe/bars. It’s the perfect spot for a cold beer or fresh coconut while enjoying the breathtaking view and incredible sunsets. Nyang Nyang Beach is also a favourite of ours, however be prepared to either walk or test your scooter skills (and scooter performance!) getting back up the extremely steep hill. As you may have seen the truly stunning Hindu inspired god statues and structures in Instagram posts – they are definitely worth the visit to see these dotted all over the island.

Perfect Balance for Digital Nomad Life in Uluwatu
The digital nomad community in Uluwatu is still thriving, thanks to the abundance of co-working spaces, cafes, and accommodations that cater for all the remote workers needs. With reliable internet and comfortable work environments, digital nomads can maintain their productivity while enjoying some of the most beautiful surroundings on earth. We found ourselves working from beaches and cafes with no issues at any point. A stark contrast from our former lives working in our 9-5 office jobs. And to top it off, when it’s time to stop working and unwind, we were already in the perfect place. I know where I prefer to work!
Experience a Relaxing Spa Day
During our stay, we visited a luxurious spa in Seminyak which has stunning Moroccan-inspired architecture. The experience was truly relaxing, making it a great way to unwind after a busy week of work and exploration. We both had full aromatherapy massages and then a shared a romantic flower bath. It was like something else out of a film, highly recommended! All this relaxation experience left us floating and we needed some time to readjust before we got back on the scooter for the journey back. In hindsight, we really should’ve done the complete experience and grabbed a GoJek taxi (Like Uber or Grab) there and back. That way we would’ve avoided the monsoon we experienced on the ride back.

Overall Experience
The weather in Uluwatu during October 2022 was mainly over 30C and sunny most of the time, with occasional heavy showers. Although the cost of living is higher compared to other parts of Southeast Asia, the atmosphere and unique experiences make it well worth the expense. In conclusion, digital nomad life in Uluwatu offers a unique experience that blends work, leisure, and exploration. With its beautiful beaches, exciting activities, and welcoming atmosphere, Uluwatu is the perfect destination for digital nomads seeking a life of freedom, productivity, and adventure. We will 100% return and we would highly recommend visiting.
